Hello humans. It has been awhile since I've updated here on dA, but I have an
excuse.
So, for the first time in a long time, I went back to school. I'm taking a college course in
Video Game Art. It started in September and the first semester is now finished.
It was
a lot of freaking work!
Sure, it was all about video games, so it was fun, but there were many assignments and tight deadlines. When I wasn't working, I was playing video games, but since I'm in school for video games, that's kind of like working too. So, there wasn't much time for keeping up with internet stuff like deviantArt. I have many messages to catch up on here. Sorry about that.
I have, of course, been making a lot of art, but because it's all mostly just school stuff, I'm not sure that it's stuff I want in my gallery here. I added a
Godzilla pixel art scene because I think people here would be interested in seeing that, but that's it for now. Maybe someday I'll add more, but for now you can see a few projects on
my weblog at SykoGrafix.com.
I did very well in my first semester, and I worked really hard to make that happen. But really, I was just doing what I do. I was never a bad student, but I wasn't ever exceptional before either, especially the last time I tried the whole college thing. I guess now I've really hit a stride and it's taken all of that time and experience I've had since then for me to get here. I'm sure there is a lesson in there somewhere, so try to figure out what it is if you want.
I will say that I'm not the only student there who isn't fresh out of high school, and there seems to be a big difference between the ones who are and the ones who have had a
few years under their belts. Even in these few months, I have seen a lot of
squandering of opportunity. It seems like some people are more interested in getting drunk or getting high than they are in being serious about what they are supposed to be trying to accomplish. Probably a lesson in there too, but chances are you've heard it all before, so
whatever, man.
