Vector Prime and Friends from Transformers Cybertron/Galaxy Force.

I started this artwork in April 2006. That's right, it took me a whole year to finish it! Of course, I did many other things in between all of that time. I just worked on it a little bit whenever I could, until recently when I decided to finish it as my art contest entry for TransformersCon [link] A lot of people really liked it. But one jackass thought I copied it. He was scared of me though. And rightly so, because I didn't copy it, and I didn't appreciate the insinuation!

From top to bottom we have Vector Prime, his trusty Minicon Safeguard, Lori, Sixspeed, Reverb, Coby, Bud, and of course, Jolt. Transformers artists hardly ever draw humans or Minicons, so I wanted to be different. It took a lot of reference material and screen shots to try to get the details and structure of the characters correct.

It was all painted in Photoshop. There is a pencil drawing underneath everything, but as I was painting I realized how bad that drawing was, so I ended up painting over the whole thing to correct it. The final product looks nothing like the drawing I originally did.

I did this painting because Transformers Cybertron/Galaxy Force is a great series with excellent toys and animation, and so even though there's a lot of excitement with the movie and classic Transformers, we should not forget this significant contribution to Transformers history.
