Digital painting of this epic crossover done for The Iron Giant Project: [link]

Apparently this was hanging up at The Labyrinth in Toronto [link] but I didn't get down there to see it.

The Iron Giant is one of my all time favorite movies. When the opportunity came along to do a piece of artwork to celebrate the film and have it showcased, I had to do something. Of course I left it to the last minute so it's not as good as it could be. Colors turned out more purple than I intended due to monitor calibration.

The idea here is to present the Iron Giant in his rightful place among the great robots of pop culture by having him meet Astro Boy. You just know that they would be great friends. I wanted to include Mazinger Z and Optimus Prime too, but ran out of time.

I guess it works well having Astro there since his own animated movie is likely to go down the same historical path as a low box office cult classic that the Iron Giant did.

not in one... NOOOO!!!!!
these are the two movies ive ever cried like i did at
i watched iron giant after walking home from school about a month ago an balled dme eyes out
then about a week or three(s t r e c h (iknow)) ago i watched astro boy for the first time after pledging back in 2009 when it came out that i would never watch it. it was like 2:00 in the morning and mom came down stairs to find me crying REALLY hard and loud and she screamed at me and i was still crying -3-
any way,... i love this pick no matter how depresing it is
